Without a doubt, some of the most interesting places are those that are on the roads less traveled. These photographs attempt to tell the story of those places but can never replace those actual pieces of history experienced in person.

I would have ideally liked to do a square book for this project but, most of my pictures are rectangular instead of square so I think the Large Landscape book will work better. I would like to work with premium paper on this book as well and make it a hard back book. It will definitely have text so I can tell the story of these pictures, the font will probably look like a font of a handwriting style. I am still debating whether I want to do a purely black and white book, only color, or both. The print standards look like they may only do one or the other. I want the book to look nostalgic but some of the colored pictures are really beautiful as well. I would appreciate any feedback ..thanks.

  1. The mailbox and blue house photos are your strongest. The both are framed very well and drawn the viewer into the photo. The other buildings photos seem a little too repetitive, I know you said you were going to go with a documentation style but I'd suggest changing the angle at which you take the photos of the buildings, get really low to the ground or up above them if you can to change things up. Love the project though its cool seeing all the places you've gone.

  2. The third and the fifth ones are my favorites out of this set. I just like how green the third one is. It's like you can just touch it. The fifth one just demands your attention. I like how you are documenting where you are traveling. It's like you are giving the city a life that we can feel through the pictures you are creating. The one of the blue house is good too. The house looks awesome. The only one I'm not really feeling is the first one because of the cars and things behind it but you have no control over that.

  3. These images are great, I like the regular form of the pictures. I mean they are great subjects to take photos of! Not to knock you on your talent, but I agree with David somewhat. After a while the photos of the buildings do get repetitive, same level, very formal, sort of like you would see in a magazine. I appreciate the buildings you have selected though. Stick with it!

  4. This is going to sound really picky but the images I don't like are the first and last one because I can see cars in them. All of the others I really enjoy. I really enjoy the second one most of all. There is something very interesting about the boxy shape of it. I know you mentioned documentation of the places and for documentation the straightforward angles of the images taken work but what the others are saying about angle choice would be a great thing to play with just to see how it would work for documentation.

  5. I like old historic images. Just with variable compositions. Maybe get under these places. Get in them and shoot from different vantage points. This applies to every photo. Unless you want to take pictures that look like postcards, in which that is fine.

  6. Beautiful images, all of them! I would not change anything about any of them. I don't know what else to say. . .

  8. The concept of your project is awesome. I wish I had the time to go where you go to take photos. Only one I can pick on is the first one with the cars in the background, but that cant be controled. Other images are good.

  10. The blue house and the church with the red door are in my opinion the strongest images. Compositionally the work great and I love the churches red door that jumps out. It's like an invitation to come in! The other images arn't bad either, but they lack the interesting elements I found in the blue house and church pictures.
